Guatemala Bound…finally!

How often do we want something to happen…yesterday? We know what is coming, so we are ready…so we think! 23 months in planning; including garage sale, dinner and just willing hearts!

Jake and I sit at the gate waiting for our flight to Miami to board. It’s 5:30ish in the morning and we are, honestly, cranky! We went to sleep late and woke up at 3:00am to get here in time. I downsized the 4 checked suitcase to 3 and still had to do some weight distribution before checking in. Through security, one of the guys looked at Jake suspiciously, but since he is a minor, they checked my hands for explosives. I guess Jake’s pout scares some people.

The past few days have been a mixture of emotions. I have been excited or anxious at any given time. My common thought has been “I can’t believe we are leaving already!” HA! Already! It has been almost 2 years in the making and it still feels like it has come up so fast!

Please keep us in your prayers! There are so many unknown variables still floating around and the ones that are known are always subject to change. Sitting here waiting brings all of them to mind, but the thought that trumps those is something Jake said yesterday. He said he is already looking forward to coming back and we haven’t even left yet, so his prayer was for him to enjoy himself and not miss anything God may have for him! That is my prayer as well.

I love Guatemala and am so excited to be there again, but home is home! So, may we not miss a moment or a word the Lord has for us! May we not overlook the opportunity to speak His truth to anyone who has ears to listen! And may we grow closer to Him and to each other. After all, sharing a room with your teenage son for 8 weeks can be a Blessing and curse!
